Being parents would be purr-fect

X FACTOR host Dermot O’Leary has revealed that his Norwegian wife Dee Koppang is feeling broody — after helping deliver four kittens. And the 39-year-old admitted he too wants to have children. Dermot, whose parents hail from Co Wexford, revealed that his wife was in Italy this week when a cat jumped on her bed and began to give birth. Speaking on his BBC Radio 2 show, Dermot said: “She essentially made a manger out of the pillowcase and a crate and stayed up all night with the cat and delivered four kittens.” He later told listeners: “I want to be a dad someday.”

Fraught banter online after last night's show

The X Factor host Dermot O'Leary found himself fending off some thinly-veiled X Factor criticism from The Voice UK's Twitter team when he complimented their latest episode. The awkward banter took place after he tweeted along with the show last night, despite being the presenter of one of the BBC One show's most obvious rivals. "She doesn't want a hug. She wants them to push the button," he wrote, promoting the official Voice UK profile to respond: ".@radioleary thanks for watching Dermot. #thevoiceuk". Things began to get a tiny bit fraught when Dermot replied: "No sweat. You should come to one of our live shows sometime", to which The Voice's page wrote back: "we'd love to but, erm, we're washing our chairs."
