DERMOT O’LEARY JOINS SURREY

SURREY CCC ARE DELIGHTED TO WELCOME DERMOT O’LEARY – ONE OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL TV AND RADIO STARS OF RECENT YEARS – TO CHAIR THE CLUB’S NEWLY FORMED ‘MEDIA GROUP’.
O’Leary – presenter of ITV1’s The X-Factor, as well as his own award-winning Saturday afternoon show on BBC Radio 2 – will lead a non-executive group tasked with continuing to improve Surrey’s work within its local community and charities further afield as well as increasing the profile of the ground within the capital’s media and entertainment industries. As well as Surrey Chairman Richard Thompson and Chief Executive Richard Gould, the group features a number of high-profile media executives – all of whom are united by their support of Surrey CCC and regular attendance at the Kia Oval. Speaking to the official Surrey website after chairing the first meeting, Dermot O’Leary said: “I am really excited to be getting involved at this fantastic club and hope we can really make a difference over the next few years. “I am a huge sports fan and see the Kia Oval as one of the leading venues in London and beyond. Although it regularly delivers world-class matches on an International stage, I am excited by its further potential and look forward to playing a part in its future development.” Surrey Chairman Richard Thompson added: “To have someone with the profile and influence of Dermot working within Surrey CCC can only be of huge benefit to everyone associated with the club. “He is a hugely busy man and I am extremely grateful that he has volunteered his services to Surrey and very much look forward to working with him and the rest of the Media Group in the coming years.”
